Deciding whether to get a pool or spa installed at your property? Here's the electrical low down.

Swimming pool lighting

As summer approaches and the weather warms up, it’s a very enticing thought to invest in a swimming pool so that you and your family (plus the extra friends you recruit) can spend the day cooling off in your backyard.

Imagining the first splash after a hard day of work or seeing the kids have the time of their life on their blow up flamingo’s...it's hard to ignore if you have the space and budget for a new pool!

So you have your landscape mapped out, you’ve chosen where your pool is going, sussed out your inspection, permits, budget, fencing and pool (or spa) company…what else do you need?

#1 - Talk to your friendly electrician!

Wiring in a swimming pool and setting up your equipment requires a professional licensed electrician. We cannot stress enough the importance regarding electrical safety around water so there is absolutely no room for shortcuts. You need to know that your electrician is complying with all regulations set out by the state statutory body (Energy Safe Victoria for us) so that you can have peace of mind that your friends, family and yourself are safe in and around your pool at all times.

#2 - Obtain your costs for your swimming pool or spa

When you run your pool and equipment installation specification plans by us and before we provide a quote we will be assessing your selections – pool pumps, heaters, filters, chlorinators, landscape and under water lighting, equipotential bonding needs, power sources, switchboard and circuit capacity.

We will be able to provide you with a quote and friendly recommendations to ensure you are meeting regulations so that you don’t have any surprises in your budget to deal with.

#3 - Consider the maintenance

Modern Electrical Group are also available for ongoing maintenance checks and additions along the way to ensure there are no faults with your pool or spa equipment.

Getting a pool or spa is a big investment so we encourage you to do your research, aim for energy efficiency and get your sparky on board early.

Reach out to chat to us today about your pool installation plans. We service from Frankston South to Melbourne wide!
